Honda Adding Android Auto To Gold Wing Motorcycle Range

Honda is integrating Android Auto with the current-generation Gold Wing touring motorcycle. Riders with Android 5.0 or later smartphones, plus the Android Auto app, will be able to enjoy services such as music, phone calls and messaging at no additional cost.

You will however need a Bluetooth headset, which is sold separately, in order to utilize Android Auto while riding a Gold Wing bike.

This update is planned for mid-June 2020, as the Japanese brand wants to make both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay available on even more models going forward.

The Gold Wing has been Honda’s flagship motorcycle for over four decades. In 2017 when the all-new variant was announced in North America, it became the world’s first motorcycle with Apple CarPlay integration. Now, with Android Auto, you get a simplified interface and easy-to-use voice actions. The system is designed to minimize distraction so that riders can focus on the road.

“Android Auto makes it easy to access favorite music, media and messaging apps while on the motorcycle. With Google Assistant on Android Auto, riders can stay focused, connected and entertained, keeping their eyes on the road and their hands on the handlebar, while using their voice to help with their day.”

As far as we’re concerned, using voice commands is crucial regardless of which infotainment software you’re using while riding on just two wheels. Also, the handlebar display is definitely large enough for easy scrolling, although we wouldn’t recommend looking at it too much while you’re in motion.
